2nd ZIFERBLAB LINEUP
Hi everyone! We're really excited to present our speakers for our second Ziferblab on Monday, November 27th at 19:00. "THE PHILOSOPHICAL VALUE OF SILENCE" Philosophers try to find the right words to speak about confusing issues. But isn’t it sometimes better not talk at all? Can’t we philosophically profit from silence? In this talk, I will discuss how silence relates to the problem of relativism. This problem notes that while the idea that the truth is a product of our culture seems pretty plausible, it is also difficult to accept. I will argue that silence can sometimes be necessary if we want our words to have meaning in the first place. Adam Lalak studied philosophy at the University of Cambridge, which confused him so much that he thinks about philosophical problems
INAUGURAL ZIFERBLAB LINEUP
Hi everyone! We're super stoked to present the speakers lineup for the inaugural Ziferblab at 19:00 on Monday, November 13th. MATT KORDA: "Demystifying the North Korean Missile Threat" Pssst... have you heard? There's a crazy leader running around with nuclear-armed intercontinental ballistic missiles – and now Kim Jong-un has them too! In this informal yet informative talk, Matt Korda will discuss the ins and outs of the North Korean nuclear missile programme: What do they have? Why do they have it? And what are they going to do with it? Warning: there may be missile-based puns. Matt Korda is a Ziferblat host and postgraduate researcher at the Centre for Science and Security Studies at King's College London, where he focuses on North Korean missiles. His work has been published

A Zifer-baby is on its way!
Ziferblat London’s Mille is pregnant and we’re so looking forward to welcome a new member to the Ziferblat family this summer! The expectant mother has put together a personal guide on how you can support and take good care of your pregnant colleague or friend: I LOVE: BISCUITS: ‘Morning sickness’ should be re-named as pregnant women can be nausea and feel sick at all times during the day – most often when their blood sugar is low. The perfect remedy to nausea is eating biscuits and they’re great as an all-day snack. I personally prefer oat biscuits like Nairn’s, which we have a fine selection of at Ziferblat. NUTS: Nuts are so healthy for both mother and foetus because they are sources of protein – pregnant women need to eat some protein foods
Take Your Time, zzzz…
Had a long day? Ziferblat London now has a comfy Secret Hide Away Room with a bed, pillows and beanbags for those of you who want to rest your eyes. This means you no longer have any reasons to fall asleep in front of the computer with your head in your palms – or power nap in the tube for that matter. Our Secret Hide Away Room is not just for sleepy heads though: You can drink coffee/tea while playing board games with your friends, make a study plan for your Psychology exam, do Skype meetings or call your relatives in Russia. Although we enjoy entertaining our guests we also respect our guests' need for privacy.
Ziferburg - to build a new one Ziferburg is a part of the big Ziferblat family. Ziferblat is an unconventional project, which is growing and flourishing thanks to its team and guests. Each Ziferblat guest becomes a micro-tenant of the space, responsible for it and able to influence its life. There are Ziferblats not only in Russia, but also in England (London, Manchester, Liverpool) and Slovenia, Lublyana. Ziferburg have been located in thevery heart of Saint - Petersburg on a mansard floor of an antique trading house Passage. At the moment we are forced to concede this place to a big restaurant holding. We have decided not to focus on fighting for the place, but on finding a better one, which, we assume, will open new horizons for the project. Our aim - to re-create Ziferburg at a new

Meet our Guests: Artist Rodrigo Troitiño
“Challenges makes me happy. The challenges I set for myself, moving to London and start over again for example. They make me feel like I still have a long journey in front of me. And of course producing art makes me happy as well as satisfying my basic needs: eat good food, drink what like to drink etc. and listening to good music; classical music, old jazz and gypsy swing among many others." The words come from Brazilian artist, Rodrigo Troitiño, who is currently exhibiting his art project The Unknown Good Feelings Portraits at Ziferblat London. The art project consists of talking to participants for 20 minutes during which Troitiño draws inspired by the conversation. Troitiño just moved to London and with him this peculiar interactive art project using hatching technique

Juliet from Ziferburg in St. Petersburg is taking home our clock 'Fanny' in exchange for a small clock with no name - can you help us, we can't really tell wether it has pointy legs or horns? See the video of Sasha and Juliet exchanging zifer clocks below: Check out our selection of clocks next time you visit us on Old Street 388 and 'take your time' ;) Btw, did you know that 'ziferblat' means 'clock face' in English?

What you’ve been saying about us
We regularly get such kind comments from you lovely people! Here's a few of my favourites. Loved the ambience and the openness of the idea! Perfect for office work, chit chat, catch up etc. also learned how to make a good coffee. Owners were extremely nice. highly recommended! - Zeeshan - April 2015 Ziferblat is much more than a "pay-as-you-go-cafe". That´s how is been described all around the media in the last weeks. The truth is that you don´t really come to Ziferblat for the coffee. You come for the great atmosphere and the peaceful feeling that you get from the kitchen blue walls and the lovely vintage decoration. Ziferblat allows you to disconnect from the busy life outside their walls. Despite the fact you pay 3p per minute -and a lovely vintage clock will be ticking on
